At Christmas time the house has the given name of "The Christmas House" and Gordon and Diana have up to 20,000 lights and many other items appropriate for the season. We can if desired provide transport to and from the restaurants in the town of Whitianga to enable guests to enjoy a night out without the fear of drinking and driving. Simpson's Beach is where Captain Cook first set foot on land in New Zealand and from our front window you can look over to Cook's Bach where in 1769 Captain Cook viewed the transit of the planet Mercury enabling him to accuratly place New Zealand on the Map. A little ecloser to Whitianga is a beach called Ohuka where in about 800AD the Maori Kupe landed
